Energy Management and Performance Related Energy Savings Scheme (EMPRESS)

The Energy Management and Performance Related Energy Savings Scheme (EMPRESS) promotes an industrial energy management tool, Monitoring and Targeting (M&T), in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

Under the project, M&T is introduced through Energy Service Companies that accept the majority of the capital risk for an energy efficiency investment in exchange for a share in the positive cash flow accruing from the subsequent energy savings. Such coupling of M&T services and private sector financing has not been used before in Central and Eastern Europe.

The EMPRESS is three-year project that started in October 2003 and is funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) .
