The International Council of Chemical Associations (ICCA) represents the worldwide chemical industry.

The American Chemistry Council (ACC) is one of the oldest trade associations in North America. ACC sponsors Responsible Care, the industry's commitment to the public to continuously improve its health, safety and environmental performance. It also serves as the focal point for the chemical industry's collective action on legislative, regulatory and legal matters at the international, national and state levels.

The Canadian Chemical Producers' Association (CCPA), with a membership of more than 70 companies, accounts for over 90 per cent of the industrial chemicals manufactured in Canada. This output includes petrochemicals, inorganic chemicals, along with a wide variety of organic and specialty chemicals. It was created over 35 years ago and has been for long supporting the APELL programme.

The European Chemical Industry Council (CEFIC) has been supporting the APELL programme for a long time. One of CEFIC's main areas of activity is Health, Safety & Environment, which includes issues such as Responsible Care and Chemicals Management.

The Center for Chemical Process Safety (CCPS) is an industry-driven, non-profit professional organization affiliated with the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE). It is committed to developing engineering and management practices to prevent or mitigate the consequences of catastrophic events involving the release of chemicals and hydrocarbons that could harm employees, neighbours and the environment.

The International Council on Metals and the Environments (ICME) mission is to promote sustainable development policies and practices related to the mining and production of primary metals, which will ensure the safe production, use, recycling and disposal of metals. ICME was founded as an environmental non-governmental organization in 1991. It brings together companies from different regions of the world that represent a major portion of the production of non-ferrous and precious metals. ICME in association with UNEP published the APELL for Mining document.
