UPDATE: High Season for the Global Partnership for Sustainable Tourism

Partnership focuses on founding documents and membership expansion
The Global Partnership for Sustainable Tourism has been working on founding documents enabling the Partnership to lead new "roads for a sustainable tourism development": The working procedures, the strategic five year plan, the fundraising strategy, the draft programme of work for 2011 and the first Annual General Assembly organization are underway. In the coming months the Partnership will focus on expanding its membership to deepen its impact and ensuring financial sustainability.

Demonstrated commitment to sustainable tourism is decisive for membership
Until the First Annual General Assembly of the Partnership new members will be approved by the ITF-STD Steering Committee. Membership will depend on the ability of the potential partner to contribute to the objectives, thematic action lines, or adopted policy recommendations of the Partnership. Demonstrated commitment to sustainable tourism will be the indispensable criterion to be considered and the only obligatory one for membership. The activities undertaken by the ITF-STD members represent demonstrated commitment to sustainable tourism. To become member, please fill in the membership application form and send it to the Secretariat.

The first Annual General Assembly will be held in Costa Rica in November 2010 (date tbc)
The first Annual General Meeting and the official launch of the Partnership is planned to take place towards end of this year. This represents a major event for the membership, where all the partners will gather for the first time. The Secretariat will send shortly information on the first Assembly to be held in San José, Costa Rica.

For further questions please contact the Secretariat.
